The Joy Luck Club Reading Sequence (Reminder)
We will NOT be reading The Joy Luck Club in its published order. Amy Tan tells four separate family stories throughout this novel, and each family has one chapter per part, for a total of four chapters per family. We will read family-by-family rather than straight through the novel to aid student comprehension (detailed novel breakdown here).
Plagiarism
Students, your Honors World Literature teachers have seen some responses submitted to Schoology that feature copied, undocumented information from unapproved outside sources. Though we are meeting digitally rather than face-to-face, the expectations for academic honesty have not changed. Please make sure to create and post your own work. If teachers continue to see student work that features plagiarized content, students will be required to submit every assignment to both Schoology and TurnItIn.com.
Tracking Your Progress
For an easy record of assignments you have or haven’t completed during the digital learning window, please see comments in Student VUE. We are not permitted to enter numerical grades at this time, but you will see assignments either marked “completed” or “missing.” Please continue to check written feedback in our digital platforms (Schoology, TurnItIn.com).
Submitting Digital Assignments After the Due Date
If you complete an assignment after it is already logged in Student VUE, you will need to contact your teacher directly to request that she reviews your work and updates the assignment status. We understand that this is an extra step for you, and we apologize for adding more to your to-do lists, but the magnitude of student submissions prevents us from continually checking past assignments. Please be patient with us as we acclimate to this new learning environment - we’re all on the same team!
